Continued Education: Advanced Postures + Assists
March 21st, 22nd + 23rd, 2025

Luna Yoga’s Continued Education Series announces Advanced Postures + Assists, an opportunity to build ways to approach advanced yoga poses, understanding the physical and mental preparation, and the proper assists to teach.

Going beyond the basic poses from our 200-hour teacher training, this training will build your confidence to provide supportive and effective hands-on assists in a flow yoga practice, as well as teaching you the detective tools to assist postures you may not have been taught an adjustment for previously.

Training includes:

  • A brief review of sun salutation assists for those who may be out of practice.

  • Two customized 45-min classes building up to advanced arm balances and backbending poses (with intermediate variations) will be explored.

  • Learn new assists and practice assisting/be assisted throughout the sequence.

Enhance your qualifications as a teacher to apply these hands-on assists immediately in your teaching practice, and obtain tools to be able to think about posture and assists in a new way

This session will motivate you, ensuring you and your students practice safely, as you and your students gain a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence from meeting new challenges.

This training is part of our Continuing Education series and all hours are Canadian Yoga Alliance certified.

So, this class is my way of saying ‘I am honoured, grateful, and deeply touched for the time you’ve given me.  When the clock strikes, class begins, and everything else fades away... I will always remember us this way (a la Gaga).  My ode to Luna, and its students in a way.

This final class for Carolina will focus on backbends, and opening the front line of the body, working our way to scorpion, and variations of scorpion, with some playful transitions.

A playlist that will inspire everyone. Vegan goodies for all to enjoy.

Refresh your Assists

August 20th, 2022, 3:00PM-6:00PM

Teachers: has it been 2 years (or more!) since you've taught with hands-on assists and you're feeling a little rusty? Yogis: have you missed being assisted during your practice and are looking for an opportunity to learn more first-hand about how adjustments can benefit and deepen your practice? Teachers and students alike: it's time to get a refresher on assists!

During this 3-hour workshop we will review the basic principles of hands-on adjustments, go over how to assist students in the foundational flows (ex: Surya Namaskar A & B) and postures of the yoga practice and, time permitting, explore how to build up to and support students in more advanced asanas.

A minimum of 1 year of established practice is strongly recommended.

$70 ($65 by August 2nd)

With a background in hip hop dance + competitive sport aerobics, Frances began practicing yoga in 2006 when she started working for lululemon athletica. This became her new passion + way of life. To her, dance is very much an outward expression, whereas yoga offers an opportunity for self-reflection. In 2011, Frances completed her 300-hour Jivamukti Teacher Training with Sharon Gannon + David Life in New York. In January 2013, she became a certified Advanced Jivamukti Teacher + in May 2015 she had the honour + privilege of mentoring the Jivamukti Teacher Training in New York. She draws from experiences + relationships in all areas of her life to bring creativity, compassion, joy + laughter to her classes + teachings.

Pelvic Floor Workshop

Pelvic Floor Workshop : Everyone Needs a Vagina Coach
Saturday, May 9th, 2020, 2:00 - 3:30pm

What better way to celebrate women on Mother’s Day then learning about your “Pelvic Floor”!

The objective of this workshop is to have us come together and learn about Pelvic Health, and understand the importance of maintaining a healthy pelvic floor throughout our lifespan. This workshop is to empower and educate women of all ages about their lady parts and to accept our bodies and learn how to maintain a strong pelvic floor for proper bladder & bowel function and intimacy. Pelvic Floor Physical therapy should be standard care for every woman. “Kegels” otherwise known as “pelvic floor contractions” got a bad rap because these contractions were done incorrectly over the years. Kegels do work! Kegels work when they are done correctly, consistently, and coordinated with movement. This workshop will explain how to do so. The workshop will begin by explaining the female anatomy & pelvic floor and its function, followed by describing the role of a pelvic floor physiotherapist. It will cover some basic functions/dysfunctions and the important role with respect to physical activity.

I hope this workshop inspires you to optimize your pelvic health at any life stage!

$30 + tax ($25 + tax by May 2nd)

All the details and information will be sent via email.*

Elisa Donato.jpg

Elisa Donato graduated as a physiotherapist from McGill University in 2009. She began working in private clinics in Orthopedics and in her area of specialty, pelvic floor rehabilitation. Elisa developed a particular interest for pelvic health and focused her career on working with clients of all ages with various pelvic floor dysfunctions. She was drawn to this physical therapy specialty because pelvic health is an area of significant need which was, and still is today, largely neglected in the medical field. Over the past 10 years, Elisa has been keen on promoting awareness and education on pelvic health within the community and the health care system. She has given numerous conferences on this matter and developed Pelvic Health Programs in various physiotherapy clinics.

Elisa continues to be an advocate for pelvic health and has recently opened up her private practice, PelviCore Physio. She is also currently working alongside the Meraki Health Centre team where she works with various clienteles to evaluate and treat children and adults with pelvic floor related conditions. She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary work within the Meraki Gender Variance Program to address all physiotherapy related needs.

Elisa is a mother to two beautiful girls and enjoys spending quality time with her family. She loves traveling, playing music, cooking and keeping fit.

Meditation with Athanassia Bitzakidis

Meditation with Athanassia Bitzakidis
Friday, September 8, 2017, 7:15-9:00pm

Meditation is a practice aimed to produce inner peace and to progress towards a calm mind. It's essentially about training the mind, in a similar way that we train for a sport or to learn to play a musical instrument, with the goal of liberating the mind from stressful or harmful thoughts, and above all, reconnecting to a state of mindfulness. In this introduction, we will explore the origins of meditation, the different types and the basic techniques.

This workshop is by donation.

This workshop is in French.
