The Nix Fix: More Than a Studio

More Than a Studio: Celebrating 22 Years of Luna Yoga

by Nicola Colville

On July 1st, Luna Yoga turned 22—not just 22 years of yoga classes, but 22 years of shared breath, quiet courage, returning to the mat, and returning to each other. And yes, that included 22 boat poses—one for each incredible year—in keeping with Jenn’s now- legendary anniversary class tradition. In a world that moves fast and often pulls us in many directions, a space like Luna—a place that invites presence, compassion, and

connection—is rare. And worth celebrating.

So, what makes a studio endure? It’s the living, breathing community that grows within its walls — the intangible moments that go beyond schedules or sequences. It’s the collective rhythm of bare feet on floorboards signaling a shared journey; the warm smiles that connect strangers in silent practice; the unfolding of friendships born from simply showing up side by side. It’s the meaningful ritual of unrolling your mat, the subtle hum of music in the background, the quiet chatter before class, and the lingering

conversations afterwards that transform a space into a sanctuary. It’s the teachers who remember your name, a glance of understanding that says “I see you” during a challenging pose, the way the room itself holds us steady, even on the days we’re not quite sure how to hold ourselves. These are the threads that have woven Luna’s story—making it not just a studio, but a lasting home for everyone who gathers here in

practice and community.

For me, Luna became that space over 4 years ago. I found it by chance, but like so many others, I stayed by choice. Over time, the studio became more than a place to explore, energize, and empower. It became a place to land. The teachers, the community, the practice itself—all of it came together to form something quietly powerful. A sense of belonging.

This anniversary isn’t just about marking time. It’s about honoring the community that shows up—on good days, hard days, and everything in between. It’s about the way we hold space for one another without needing to speak. The way we share a collective exhale in savasana. The way we grow alongside each other, simply by being present.

And of course, it’s about celebrating. Celebrating the people and presence that make Luna what it is. The founders who imagined this space into being. The teachers who continue to guide us with care and intention. The students who arrive, again and again, bringing their energy, stories, and breath. It’s a celebration of the quiet strength that lives in community. Of the countless moments of stillness, of challenge, of connection that have unfolded here. We’re not just marking time; we’re honoring the heart that holds it all together.

Whether you arrived 22 years ago or just last week, you’ve become part of Luna’s story—and Luna has become part of yours. Together, we’ve made this more than a studio. We’ve made it a home.

Happy anniversary Luna!

Namaste,

Nix

At Luna, we are incredibly moved and filled with gratitude for our community that grows each year. Our Luna Yoga Teacher Trainees are a special part of our community and we are humbled and honoured to share this lovely letter from one of our recent graduates. Thank you Nix. It is a privilege to have you apart of our community ♡

Yoga Letter – February 2025 (Closing Circle)

Dear Luna Yoga Family, Faculty, and Fellow Trainees,

As this month (Jan 2025) marks 11 years since I first unrolled my mat and stepped into

the transformative world of yoga, it also brings with it the deep joy of completing my

200-hour yoga teacher training certification—a milestone that feels both humbling and

momentous.

To my Luna Yoga Family, thank you for being my sanctuary over the years. You have

been more than a studio; you have been a space where growth, healing, and self-

discovery are not only encouraged but celebrated. Your warmth and unwavering

dedication to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment have been the

foundation of my practice and, now, my journey as a teacher.

To the incredible Faculty, your passion, knowledge, and commitment have brought

our diverse syllabus to life in ways that words cannot fully capture. You have given us

the tools not only to teach yoga but to embody it. Thank you for your patience, and

encouragement, and for sharing your journey—it has been a privilege to learn from

each of you.

To my Fellow Trainees, what an honor it has been to travel this journey with you.

Together, we have shared challenges, breakthroughs, laughter, and moments of

stillness that have bonded us in ways only this journey could. As we step forward into

the next chapters of our respective paths, I wish you each an enriching and rewarding

yogic journey. May you continue to inspire others as you have inspired me and may the

teachings of yoga guide you with clarity and compassion.

Finally, to Yoga itself: thank you for finding me and gently holding space for me ever

since. Thank you for reminding me to breathe deeply when life felt heavy. Thank you for

teaching me to move with intention, to pause with grace and to aspire to my higher Self.

This journey has been a testament to the magic that unfolds when we open ourselves to

possibility and lean into the lessons of the present moment. My heart is full of gratitude

for every teacher, every class, every conversation, and every connection along the way.

As I step into this new chapter as a yoga teacher, I carry with me the lessons, the

memories, and the inspiration from this beautiful experience. May Luna Yoga, its faculty,

and all who practice within its walls continue to flourish and touch lives in the profound

way you have touched mine.

With deep love and appreciation

Namaste
