katy harris-mcleod

teacher

The thread of yoga has woven itself through more than half of Katy’s life, supporting her physically and mentally as a dancer, a mother, a teacher, and a human being. As a practitioner and teacher of yoga, Katy focuses on the joy of movement, the ability to breathe deeply and connect with self, and the dance between effort and release.

Upon completing her 250-hour yoga teacher training with Luna Yoga in 2021, Katy began teaching flo classes at the studio. In 2023, Katy did a 40-hour restorative yoga certification with Andrea Peloso and so is now able to offer a restorative option to the Luna community. Katy also works as an assistant at the Radiant Soul Yoga Retreat in Sayulita, Mexico run by Vancouver-based yoga teacher Mara Branscombe, and as the yoga instructor at The Wellness Weekend in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts.

In addition to teaching yoga, Katy creates and leads weekly movement therapy group sessions at a long-term care facility. She is also the English teacher at a primary school, and leads English workshops for adults at a career counseling centre.

Before moving to Montreal in 2010, Katy trained as a contemporary dancer in Vancouver where she then worked as a dance artist, producer, and actor. Katy loves being part of the Luna community, and is honoured to be able to lead people through invigorating or restful practices of self discovery.
